Peter Brown

I am sad to advise Peter passed away unexpectedly on 17 October 2020.

Peter was the eldest of three sons, Roy and the late Tim, all born in Edinburgh to parents Joan and the late Colin. He had a very happy childhood in Edinburgh and attended Melville College.

His interest in aircraft led to him joining the Combined Cadet Force at school and obtaining his pilot's license at a young age. His flying led to his later passion for gliding, regularly flying at the Scottish Gliding Centre.

Peter was a keen skier, first learning at Hillend near Edinburgh and Cairngorm, and continued to ski throughout his life. His love for skiing and apres-ski in France led to him buying a small apartment in the French Alps.

His interest in sport also included sailing, and then slightly later, the new sport of the time, windsurfing. The final sport of note that he immersed himself in was golf. Playing courses in Edinburgh and near his French apartment.

Peter worked for many years in the family furniture business C & J Brown before moving to Nottingham and setting up his own business. Finally, he relocated the business to Edinburgh.

Peter made many friends through his work, and the many kind messages since his passing have been much appreciated.

The business will be continued by Roy and John.
